CSS Tabs, More Than Tool Tip & Live Images by Mandeeps©

Update ***** April 26/07

Recently while upgrading to DNN 4.5.1 I lost a lot of text due to a bug in an upgraded text/html module. Now that I'm reconsturcting some of the text I tried to use the More Than Tool Tip module in DNN 4.5.x and was presented with errors in relation to the changes to the text/html module issue and the fact that MTT uses text/html.

Well. Someone else beat me to Mandeeps forums where I confirmed and added my 2 cents. Over Night I had a patch in my email box and was "tip toeing through the tulips" again. The patch was rolled out quickly and I appreciate the support.

This suite of Modules reviewed here receives 4.54.5 StarsStars. Read on to find out why...

This assembly of software by Mandeeps© are the best bunch of tools I've purchased so far.

CSS Tabs Enterprise Edition was my first buy. I think the fact that it uses the AJAX technology, is why I like it so much!

It installs without any problems at all and I was creating my tabs in seconds, saving valuable retail space on my pages. Of course, one could go overboard a bit so I try not to use it too much. There's and example on Focus On Learning's site on the home page where CSS Tabs is in use.

There seem to be some limits as to what you can put in the tabs though. I tried categorizing my review entries which use DNN's Blog module, so that each topic had a tab that would reference the hidden actual blog listing. It didn't work. The blog module installs with various components such as blog_listing, view_blog and blog_archive which shows a calendar of when reviews have been posted. The View_Entries module part of the blog went into CSS Tabs by using the "use existing module" setting. But when I tried to add the blog_archive part of the blog into another Tab, I got the famous "Object not set to an instance of and Object" error.

There are some other instances where I could not insert what I wanted into the Tabs but have since forgotten exactly which module it was because it was before I started writing these reviews and didn't note what was happening. Not all from CSS Tabs of course.

Maybe my way of thinking is not agreeing with what can be done with the Module.

Next are the two Modules that compliment each other, More Than Tool Tips and Live Images (Lightbox Effects).
I've elected to purchase only the standard versions to save some money. I really don't have the ability to edit the source code for this software and this is what you would be paying for if you purchase any Enterprise Version.

So far I've only had one error involved with More Than Tool Tips, and it was because I didn't understand the interface. After about ten minutes of whipping back and forth from Mandeeps site, I started to get the hang of it and was "Tip toeing through the tulips!" Again, this software is using the AJAX technology. I've spent some time watching the free video tutorials posted on the asp.net site by Joe Stagner regarding what is possible with AJAX. I encourage you to check them out if not, only to get an idea on what's going on in the background a bit. He does an excellent job of explaining what's going on...even for a non-programmer like me.

In conclusion, I highly recommend these three software Modules that I have mentioned here. There are more modules than this available on Mandeeps site but I haven't purchased them so I don't have any immediate feedback for you. Other than saying that if the others are as good as these mentioned then you are well on your way.

This suite of Modules reviewed here receives 4.54.5 StarsStars because of the in-ability to integrate all of the default DNN Modules seamlessly, into the CSS Tabs Module. If you have any information that can clarify or correct this please contact me via the About/Contact page or add your comments to this review and I will respond.
